Portavadie vehicle ferry disruption extended as slipway reopening moves to 7 December

Published:

What changed

Storm Boelo damage has delayed the expected reopening of Portavadie slipway in Scotland from 16 November to 7 December 2026. The Tarbert–Portavadie passenger vessel will continue operating while the slipway remains closed, but the revised date is an expected infrastructure reopening rather than confirmation that vehicle ferry service will resume that day.

Does this affect me?

Motorists and other travelers requiring vehicle transport between Tarbert and Portavadie across Loch Fyne must plan around the extended slipway closure. Foot passengers can continue using the passenger vessel, subject to current service conditions.

What should I do?

Do not plan to transport a vehicle on the normal crossing during the extended slipway closure. Arrange an alternative driving route when traveling with a vehicle. Foot passengers should confirm the passenger vessel's current operation, and all travelers should check CalMac's latest service status before departure.
