What changed
The Tsugaru Pass–Anmon section of the Iwasaki–Nishimeya–Hirosaki Prefectural Road closed to traffic from 17:00 JST on November 6 because of snow and road-icing risk. The closure also blocks the Mother Tree viewing course, Beech Giant Tree Nature Trail and Takakuramori hiking routes. The announced closure period extends to 17:00 JST on November 13.
Does this affect me?
Drivers, guided tour groups and hikers planning to access the affected Shirakami-Sanchi mountain area through Tsugaru Pass or Anmon. Visitors intending to use the three identified hiking routes cannot access them during the announced closure period.
What should I do?
Do not attempt to enter the closed road section or associated hiking routes. Check current mountain-road restrictions before departure, use independently verified alternative access routes where available, and reschedule affected walks. Treat the announced reopening date as provisional until the visitor center confirms access.
