What changed

La Gomera's island government announced that its hiking-trail network, forest tracks, recreation areas, El Rejo road and the botanical garden and maritime park in Vallehermoso will close from 8 November 2026 as part of its response to forecast severe weather.

Does this affect me?

Hikers, forest-track users, motorists planning to travel along El Rejo road between GM-1 and GM-2, and visitors intending to use the botanical garden or maritime park in Vallehermoso will face the announced access restrictions.

What should I do?

Reschedule affected hikes and attraction visits beginning 8 November. Do not use the closed El Rejo connection or forest tracks, and arrange alternative road access where needed. Check the Cabildo's current announcements before attempting to visit the affected sites.
