What changed
On November 5, a rockslide blocked the Alóag–Santo Domingo highway at kilometer 83. ECU 911 reported that vehicle circulation was suspended and a preventive traffic closure was in place at kilometer 95.
Does this affect me?
Drivers, interprovincial bus passengers and freight operators traveling between the Quito area and Santo Domingo face a significant interruption of the highway connection. Vehicles cannot continue through the blocked section while the closure remains in effect.
What should I do?
Avoid attempting to pass through the closed section. Check ECU 911 and responsible road-authority updates before departure, use officially designated alternative roads and allow additional time for travel between Quito and Santo Domingo.
