SR 89A reopens between Sedona and Slide Rock while northern Oak Creek Canyon remains closed

What changed
The Arizona Department of Transportation restored SR 89A access between Sedona and Slide Rock State Park on November 6, while the highway remains closed north of Slide Rock toward Oak Creek Vista.
Does this affect me?
Visitors traveling from Sedona to Slide Rock State Park can again use the reopened highway section. Drivers traveling between Sedona and Flagstaff remain unable to use SR 89A as a through route because substantial flood-repair work continues north of Slide Rock.
What should I do?
Use the reopened Sedona-to-Slide Rock section only for access to that area. For Sedona–Flagstaff journeys, use SR 179 and Interstate 17. Check AZ511 before departure, expect ongoing repair activity and do not attempt to continue north through the closed section.
